BIOPSY/FNAC

A biopsy is a medical procedure involving the removal of tissues usually from a particular part of the body for processing in the laboratory, to confirm or rule out the presence of a malignancy. It is usually the best/confirmatory test done when suspecting a malignancy (tumour). AADIS Biopsy clinic is aimed at enhancing cancer survival rates and prognosis, by ensuring the best possible time between presentation and diagnosis. AADIS Biopsy procedures include;
  • Ultrasound-guided Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC)- This procedure involves the aspiration of fluid from a mass/swelling with small gauge needles. The aspirates are placed on slides, stained and reported by a histopathologist.
  • Ultrasound-guided Core Needle (Trucut) Biopsies – Involves the removal of strips of tissues from various parts of the body/organ. These samples are processed in the laboratory, studied and then reported.
